Quotes & orders

Creating a quote

Building a quote line by line, what the pricing engine fills in, and sending it for acceptance.

Quotes > New quote. You pick the customer and the dates; you do not type prices.

Adding lines

Save the quote, then use Add line on its view page. A line carries:

Every time a line changes, the quote is repriced end to end and the totals are rewritten.

What the engine fills in

Unit price starts at list price and then runs the rule pipeline: customer discounts, quantity breaks, decoration cost, the method's setup fee, setup waivers, then tax under your region's scheme (10% GST in Australia, 20% VAT in the UK, a per-shop rate in the US). Each rule that fired is recorded on the quote with its name and the amount it moved, so you can answer "why is this line $18.50" months later.

Detail on each rule type is in pricing rules and how they apply.

Sending it

Chasing is automatic from there: a follow-up once the quote has sat unanswered for 7 days, and a nudge as it nears its expiry date. Both use the quote.chase template, which you can rewrite under Email & SMS templates. A quote already past its expiry is not chased.

There are no quote templates

Reuse lives in pricing, not in saved quote documents. A price list plus a set of pricing rules gives every quote for that customer the right numbers without a template, so the honest answer to "where do I save a template" is that you do not: set the customer's price list once and quote from scratch each time.

Accepting

Accept & convert to order turns the quote into a live job. See converting a quote to an order for exactly what that changes.
